Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Airbase Georgia, Peachtree City, Ga., has announced the 2026 Georgia Barnstorming Tour, a statewide series of events that will bring restored WWII aircraft to seven airports between August and November while offering static displays and flight experiences aboard several historic warbirds. The tour opens Aug. 15 during the Toccoa Airport Open House at Toccoa Airport-R.G. LeTourneau Field, where Airbase Georgia will bring its Fairchild PT-19 for display and ride flights. The organization will then continue to Augusta Regional Airport on Sept. 12 with the North American P-51 Mustang, LT-6 Mosquito, PT-19, and Beechcraft T-34 Mentor. “We’re happy to bring this historic fleet to Augusta,” said Airbase Leader Mark Richards. “The P-51 was an incredible guardian for American bombers over Germany, and our PT-19 helped train the Tuskegee Airmen in Alabama.”
The third stop on the tour is scheduled for Sept. 20 during Good Neighbor Day at DeKalb-Peachtree Airport in Atlanta. Along with the P-51, PT-19, LT-6, and T-34, the Douglas SBD Dauntless dive bomber will join the lineup, with ride flights available on Sunday. Middle Georgia Regional Airport in Macon will host the tour on Sept. 26, where all five ride aircraft are expected to appear. Airbase Georgia will split operations on Oct. 24 between two events. The P-51 Mustang, SBD Dauntless, and LT-6 are scheduled to attend Athens-Ben Epps Airport, while the PT-19, LT-6, and T-34 will appear at the Pixel Man Airshow at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport in Gainesville.
The final stop is planned for Nov. 21-22 at CAF Airbase Georgia’s headquarters adjacent to Atlanta Regional Airport-Falcon Field during the Atlanta Gun Show, where all five ride aircraft are expected to be available. The organization said additional tour stops may be announced later this year. According to Airbase Georgia, the annual barnstorming tour is intended to bring historic military aircraft to communities across Georgia while supporting the organization’s educational mission and preserving the legacy of the men and women who flew them during WWII.
“This tour will offer amazing experiences to people across the state,” Richards said. “It helps fulfill our mission of honoring the Greatest Generation who flew these warbirds, and it helps enable school-age children to connect with the WWII history these planes represent.
