The Planes of Fame Air Museum is delighted to welcome the Commemorative Air Force – Arizona Wing and their beautifully restored Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress, “Sentimental Journey,” for a special five-day event from Wednesday, October 1 through Sunday, October 5, 2025. During this period, museum guests will have the unique opportunity to explore this iconic aircraft through self-guided tours. Visitors can step inside the bomber and gain an appreciation for the engineering and history that made the B-17 a cornerstone of Allied air power during the Second World War. Admission to the aircraft tours is included with general museum entry.

For those seeking an even more immersive experience, “Sentimental Journey” will be offering flight experiences beginning Friday, October 3, and continuing through Sunday, October 5. Multiple flights are scheduled each day, but seating is limited, making advance reservations highly recommended. These flights allow participants to experience firsthand the sights, sounds, and sensations that the bomber crews felt during its operational service, providing a rare and memorable connection to aviation history.

Highlighting the weekend is a special engine start event on Saturday, October 4, coinciding with the museum’s Flight Exhibition. Attendees will witness the North American P-51D Mustang’s Merlin engine roar to life before taxiing for a twenty-minute aerial demonstration. Shortly afterward, “Sentimental Journey” will start all four of her powerful radial engines in front of the crowd and taxi across the flightline, offering an impressive display of both historic aircraft in motion.

The October 4 event will also feature “Hangar Talk” sessions and hands-on activities, making it an engaging day for enthusiasts of all ages. Seats for flight experiences are expected to sell out quickly, and the museum encourages early reservations to secure this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity aboard a legendary piece of aviation history.
