The Military Aviation Museum, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, has announced that Warbirds Over the Beach, its premier annual airshow, has been postponed until fall 2027. However, the previously scheduled weekend of October 3rd–4th, 2026, will proceed as a special living history event on the museum grounds in Virginia Beach, Virginia. According to the museum, limited aircraft availability has prevented it from safely presenting the complete airshow experience visitors expect. Warbirds Over the Beach is the museum’s largest annual fundraising event, but organizers said the decision reflects their commitment to staging high-quality warbird flying demonstrations while maintaining the highest standards of safety.

Although no aircraft demonstrations will take place during the October weekend, the museum’s historic aircraft collection will remain on display throughout its four hangars. Visitors may also reserve scenic flights aboard the museum’s 1941 Boeing Stearman biplane. Reservations are available through the museum’s Warbird Rides webpage.
Living history organizations and reenactors will establish encampments on the museum grounds from Friday evening through Sunday morning. The main public program will be held on Saturday, October 3rd, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., featuring groups representing the WWI, WWII, and Korean War eras. The program will draw upon the museum’s collection while commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States. Participating organizations will include the Parris Island Living History Detachment, which will present a static exhibit and non-tactical weapons demonstration accompanied by WWII-era military vehicles. Other living history groups will offer period uniforms, authentic encampments, militaria, and historic vehicle displays throughout the grounds.
Food trucks will be available on Saturday. All weekend living history activities are included with standard daily museum admission, and no additional event ticket is required. Further information will be announced through the Military Aviation Museum’s website.
