The Vulcan to the Sky Trust, Doncaster, UK, reported a busy March, with a series of public events, outreach efforts, and ongoing planning work centered around the preservation and future of Avro Vulcan XH558. One of the main highlights during the month was the “Run the Runway” event at Doncaster Sheffield Airport, which attracted more than 6,000 visitors. The event gave members of the public an opportunity to see XH558 up close, with cockpit visits drawing significant interest throughout the day. According to the Trust, the event raised just over £3,500 through a combination of participation, donations, and on-site support. Volunteers played a key role in organizing the event and managing visitor access to the aircraft.

The Trust also participated in the Get Up To Speed with STEM (GUTS) event at Magna in Rotherham, where it served as a Bronze sponsor. Working alongside students from Doncaster UTC, the Trust engaged with younger audiences and introduced them to aviation-related topics. Organizers reported strong interest from students throughout the event, with a steady flow of visitors to the stand.

In addition to public-facing activities, the Trust continued its longer-term planning efforts. Visits were made to the Runway Visitor Park and the Avro Heritage Museum as part of ongoing discussions about establishing a permanent home for XH558. The visits were intended to gather ideas and inform future decisions about how the aircraft could be displayed and interpreted in a dedicated space.

The Trust is also preparing to introduce a new “Ask the CEO” initiative, which will invite questions from supporters and the wider public. The initiative is expected to provide a platform for updates, as well as an opportunity to address questions about ongoing projects and future plans. The organization said its focus remains on maintaining public engagement while continuing work on long-term goals related to the aircraft’s preservation and accessibility.
