In Varese, a region renowned as the “Province of Flight” for its historic and cultural contributions to Italy’s aerospace industry, a true aviation icon is being honored. The Aviamilano F.8-L Falco, a legendary two-seat wooden monoplane, continues to captivate with the same charm and elegance it displayed during its maiden flight. This year marks a special milestone: the 70th anniversary of the Falco’s first flight on June 15, 1955. A defining moment in Italian sport aviation, the Falco is the brainchild of Stelio Frati—an aeronautical engineer and a true master of light aircraft design.

Born in a small workshop in Pioltello, just outside Milan, the Falco immediately drew attention with its sleek lines and resemblance to a miniature fighter aircraft. Designed purely for the joy of flying, it combined high performance with striking aesthetics. More than just beautiful, the Falco set a new standard for high-performance light aircraft and directly inspired the development of the famed SIAI-Marchetti SF-260. Seven decades later, the Falco still soars across skies worldwide, used both for training and sport aviation—proof of its timeless design and visionary engineering.

To celebrate this enduring legacy, a unique initiative brings together tradition, innovation, and design. Hangar Italy, an aeronautical brand based in Sesto Calende—the historic home of SIAI-Marchetti—has long championed the icons of Italian aviation. For this anniversary, the company has created a limited-edition commemorative watch that embodies the spirit of the Falco and serves as a new symbol for aviation enthusiasts. Produced in a limited run of just 70 individually numbered and customizable pieces, the timepiece is dedicated to those who live flight as a passion, profession, and lifestyle.

Designed by Gianfranco Caprai—architect, aerobatic pilot, and newly elected President of the Falco Club—the watch features refined, symbolic details honoring the aircraft. The hand-drawn dial echoes Falco’s essential lines, reflecting its timeless elegance and spirit. This design merges creativity, historical memory, and mechanical passion, capturing the authentic soul of an aircraft that has become legendary. For more information, visit www.emotionlab2022.com
