Warbirds Downunder has long been a centerpiece of Temora’s aviation calendar and a widely supported national heritage event. Organizers noted that they are continuing to explore options for hosting a major airshow in Temora again in the future. The most recent Warbirds Downunder airshow took place in October 2024 and attracted more than 12,000 visitors over two days of flying displays. The event featured an impressive lineup of historic and modern aircraft, including a Lockheed Hudson, two Supermarine Spitfires, de Havilland DH.82A Tiger Moths, an English Electric Canberra, Ryan STM and PT-22 trainers, Harvards, Kittyhawks, a P-40 Warhawk, P-51 Mustangs, CT-4s, Winjeels, a BT-13 trainer, a Beech 18, Vought F4U Corsair, Grumman TBF Avenger, de Havilland Beaver, Cessna O-1 Bird Dog, a UH-1 helicopter, a DHC-4 Caribou, and a T-28 Trojan. The Royal Australian Air Force also participated, with appearances by the RAAF Roulettes aerobatic team, a C-130 Hercules, and an F-35A Lightning II.
Although Warbirds Downunder will not take place in 2026, the Temora Aviation Museum is planning a new series of aviation showcase events in partnership with the Royal Australian Air Force. These events will place greater emphasis on visitor engagement, including pilot interviews, spectator interaction, and deeper exploration of the historical and technical aspects of the aircraft on display. Two showcase events are currently scheduled for 2026, on May 2 and September 19. Organizers say these events will build on previous showcase formats while continuing to highlight heritage aircraft and explore new opportunities to present dynamic flying displays. Temora Aviation Museum Chief Executive Officer Peter Harper described the transition as a positive step forward for aviation events at the museum. The Temora Aviation Museum remains committed to celebrating Australia’s aviation heritage while ensuring the long-term sustainability of its nationally significant aircraft collection. Further details about the new showcase events are expected to be announced in the coming months. For more information about the Temora Aviation Museum, visit www.aviationmuseum.com.au.
