March Field Museum Foundation Announces Appointment of Keegan Chetwynd as Museum Curator at the March Field Air Museum

The March Field Museum Foundation has appointed experienced aviation museum professional Keegan Chetwynd as Museum Curator at the March Field Air Museum, strengthening the museum’s leadership team and commitment to preservation, education, and public engagement.

Michael D. Ellzey, Executive Director of the March Field Air Museum, today announced the appointment of Keegan Chetwynd as Museum Curator for the museum, located adjacent to March Air Reserve Base in Riverside, California.

Mr. Chetwynd joins the March Field Air Museum’s executive team as an experienced aviation museum professional with extensive expertise in managing complex curatorial operations and developing robust educational programming. A passionate storyteller, Chetwynd has spent more than a decade overseeing aircraft-focused collections, directing the care, maintenance, preservation, and restoration of significant historic assets, and designing original and engaging exhibit experiences.

Prior to joining the March Field Air Museum, Chetwynd served for more than six years as Museum Director at the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach, Virginia. In that role, he supervised the day-to-day operations of an active aviation museum with a strong calendar of educational initiatives and exhibit programming. He oversaw an extensive collection that included a large inventory of airworthy, operational aircraft. He also developed and implemented comprehensive collections management policies and procedures to ensure the safety, security, preservation, and proper display of both aircraft and non-aircraft artifacts.

Before his tenure in Virginia Beach, Chetwynd served at the Commemorative Air Force Airpower Museum from 2012 to 2015 as Librarian, Archivist, and Curator, and later as Curator and Education Coordinator at Commemorative Air Force Headquarters through 2018. He subsequently served as Director of Public Programming at the Comic-Con Museum in San Diego’s Balboa Park until 2019, when he relocated to Virginia Beach to join the Military Aviation Museum. Born in Milan, Italy, Moreno moved to the U.S. in 1999 to pursue a career as a commercial pilot. His aviation passion began early, inspired by his uncle, an F-104 Starfighter Crew Chief, and his father, a military traffic controller. Childhood adventures included camping outside military bases and watching planes at Aeroporto Linate. In 1999, he relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, to obtain his commercial pilot license, a move that became permanent. With 24 years in the U.S., he now flies full-time for a Part 91 business aviation company in Atlanta. He is actively involved with the Commemorative Air Force, the D-Day Squadron, and other aviation organizations. He enjoys life with his supportive wife and three wonderful children.
