Lancaster PA474 has been transferred to Duxford to begin its scheduled Major maintenance program. As previously announced, the Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight’s Lancaster is set to undergo an extensive 18-month overhaul conducted by the Aircraft Restoration Company (ARCo). The full scope of the work—designed to ensure the continued airworthiness of the 80-year-old aircraft—was outlined in the RAF Memorial Flight Official Club’s 2025 Autumn Journal.

On 29 October, Lancaster PA474 departed RAF Coningsby for Duxford, flown by Squadron Leader Paul “Ernie” Wise with Flight Lieutenant Seb Davey and crew. The aircraft is now housed in ARCo’s Stephenson Hangar, where the maintenance program is underway. The RAF Memorial Flight Official Club will provide members with exclusive updates throughout the course of the overhaul. Those wishing to follow the project who are not yet members may join or renew their membership through the Club’s website.
