The Flying Heritage and Combat Armor Museum at Paine Field in Everett, Washington will be holding a special event during the evening of December 14th, 2017 featuring their recently restored deHavilland DH.98 Mosquito TMk.III TV959. The museum, formerly known as the Flying Heritage Collection, is planning to wheel out their ‘Wooden Wonder’ for night time engine runs, which promises to offer fabulous photographic opportunities. For those of you who have never witnessed a warbird running up its engines at night, it will be a sensory feast, with the sound of two crackling Rolls-Royce Merlin engines at ‘max chat’, and hot exhausts lit with the glow of their purple flame. Engine startup is always dramatic too, with billowing exhaust catching the light in spectacular fashion.
In the event that local weather does not cooperate, the museum will instead feature three in-depth aircraft tours with FHCAM maintenance staff leading the way for what will surely be a fascinating, and in-depth view of their historic aircraft. There will be plenty of great views of the museum’s other amazing exhibits as well.
