The Reno Air Racing Association (RARA), producer of the National Championship Air Races (NCAR), today announced new initiatives to support fans in light of the recent withdrawal of the Sport and Unlimited race classes from the upcoming 2025 debut in Roswell, New Mexico. While the absence of these historic divisions is a loss, RARA remains committed to delivering an unforgettable five-day celebration of air racing and aviation this September.

Fans who prefer alternative options may request a full refund or defer the value of their tickets to the 2026 event. Detailed instructions will be sent via email to all ticket holders by the end of next week. Organizers note that the refund process may take time, as staff are balancing preparations for the inaugural Roswell event alongside processing requests.

“From Reno to Roswell, this event has always been about the fans, pilots, and volunteers who make it possible,” said Fred Telling, Chairman and CEO of the National Championship Air Races. “While the withdrawal of two race classes is disappointing, it does not mark the end of air racing. We are addressing this challenge head-on and remain deeply grateful to our fans for their loyalty and passion as we prepare for a spectacular September event.” Despite these changes, the 2025 NCAR will continue to feature five dynamic race classes, world-class airshow performances, the expansive STEM Discovery Zone powered by GRADD, extensive military and civilian static displays, and a diverse vendor and fan experience.

“Relocating this historic event is an enormous undertaking, and we are building something entirely new in Roswell while preserving the legacy of the National Championship Air Races,” said Tony Logoteta, President and COO of RARA. “This would not be possible without the dedication of our volunteers, staff, and the unwavering support of the City of Roswell and the State of New Mexico. The show will go on, and together with our fans, we are writing an exciting new chapter in the history of the world’s fastest motorsport.”
