On December 6th, the American Airpower Museum will co-host a reunion with Honor Flight Long Island with 46 veterans who were on board the free Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., on October 4th this year. The group spent the day visiting the memorials built in tribute to their service. The program, which is run entirely free for the participants, is dedicated to honoring fellow Long Islanders who served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

The upcoming reunion will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. inside Hangar 3 at the American Airpower Museum, located at 1230 New Highway in Farmingdale. Entry is free for all veterans on the flight, their guardians, and their families. Members of the public are welcome at no cost between 10:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. However, regular museum admission charges will apply post the time period: $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and veterans, and $12 for children. Museum members and active-duty military, including Guard and Reserve, are admitted free with ID.

Visitors are invited to join the crowd and show their support for local veterans during the “Ceremony of Honors,” where each veteran will be presented with a Tribute Journal filled with photos from their Washington, D.C. journey. The program will feature remarks from HFLI President Bill Jones and AAM President and Founder Jeff Clyman. Adding to the patriotic atmosphere, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla Band will perform the beloved “Armed Forces Salute”, a medley that showcases all six official musical themes from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and Coast Guard. If you are a veteran or you know one, you can join the waiting list for future Honor Flights to the D.C. by visiting www.honorflightlongisland.org.
