The American Airpower Museum (AAM) has announced two new dates for its popular WWII Douglas C-47 Scenic Flight Experience: Saturday, August 16 and Saturday, August 30, 2025. If you missed the chance to fly aboard the legendary B-29 Doc over Memorial Day Weekend, this is your opportunity to step back in time on AAM’s own Douglas C-47 Skytrain Second Chance—the same type of aircraft that dropped U.S. Airborne troops into Normandy on D-Day in June 1944. Forget cruising at 35,000 feet in a modern jet—this flight keeps you at just 1,000 feet, cruising at 150 mph for an unmatched bird’s-eye view of Long Island’s shoreline, landmarks, and scenic vistas. For years, Second Chance has been a star attraction at the Jones Beach Air Show, and now you can experience the thrill yourself.

Flight Details
Each Scenic Flight Experience lasts approximately 45 minutes, including about 20 minutes in the air. After boarding at Republic Airport, you’ll hear the rumble of the C-47’s powerful twin radial engines before taking off toward Long Island’s North or South Shore—route depending on wind conditions.
