The Yorkshire Air Museum, Elvington, UK, is inviting model makers from across the UK to showcase their craftsmanship during its annual Military Model Show on Sept. 13, with a competition featuring awards across 13 categories and an overall Best in Show prize. The event, held at the museum’s former RAF Elvington site near York, will bring together members of at least 10 model-making clubs, whose displays will include meticulously detailed military aircraft, armored vehicles, trucks, and tanks.

Many of the exhibits will be displayed beneath the nose of the museum’s Handley Page Halifax Mk III, the only surviving example of its type in Europe. While exhibition space for clubs has already been filled, the museum is encouraging additional entrants to take part in the competition, which is open to all model makers. Entries can be submitted on the day of the event at a cost of ยฃ2.50 each.

The competition is sponsored by Key Model World, publisher of several scale-modeling magazines, which has donated prizes for the event. “Model makers are incredibly talented and creative people, with a real eye for detail,” said Yorkshire Air Museum spokesman Jerry Ibbotson. “That’s why we’re looking forward to seeing these miniature creations on show at the Museum for the second year in a row. The show itself is full, but we really want more entries for the competition. You can enter on the day, and it only costs ยฃ2.50 per entry. We’re also really grateful to Key Model World for sponsoring the event with some great prizes!” For more information and to support the Yorkshire Air Museum, click on this link: yorkshireairmuseum.org.
