Hangar Italy, an independent Italian brand dedicated to transforming the emotion of flight into tangible design objects, has announced the release of its latest timepiece: the Fiat G.91 Tribute Watch. The launch pays homage to the Fiat G.91, one of the most influential aircraft in post-war Italian aviation history. The G.91 Tribute Watch will be produced in a strictly limited series of 91 numbered and customizable examples, reflecting the aircraft designation and reinforcing the exclusivity of the project. Designed and manufactured in Italy, the watch draws direct inspiration from the engineering, performance, and legacy of the G.91, which served extensively with NATO air forces during the second half of the 20th century.

Designed by engineer Giuseppe Gabrielli and selected as the winner of the 1953 NATO light fighter competition, the Fiat G.91 earned the nickname “Little Sabre” for its agility and effectiveness. The aircraft served with multiple air arms and achieved lasting recognition as the former display aircraft of the Frecce Tricolori, the Italian Air Force’s national aerobatic team. Today, it remains a widely respected symbol of Italian aeronautical innovation.

The G.91 Tribute Watch has been developed as a mechanical timepiece intended to reflect the functional clarity and precision of the aircraft itself. Its design language emphasizes essential lines, legibility, and durability, while incorporating subtle references to the G.91’s operational heritage. Journalist, author, and former elite athlete Marianna Bonavolontà has been named ambassador for the project. The daughter of a G.91 pilot and instructor, Bonavolontà brings a personal and authentic connection to the aircraft. She is also widely known for her aviation column, Un Caffè al Volo, in which she has documented aviation culture and history for many years.

The visual identity of the G.91 Tribute Watch was created by Mauro Roder, founder of the Italian design studio OKB01. With more than two decades of experience in aeronautical graphic design, OKB01 has produced squadron insignia, commemorative artwork, and special aircraft liveries. For this project, Roder translated the legacy of the G.91 into a coherent visual system inspired by aviation symbolism and technical heritage. The G.91 Tribute Watch is a one-time limited edition. Only 91 individually numbered pieces will be produced, each offering customization options for collectors and aviation enthusiasts. For more information, visit www.hangaritaly.it.
