Last December, severe winds caused major damage to a World War II-era blimp hangar on the Oregon coast. Known as Hangar B, the structure houses the Tillamook Air Museum and has been closed indefinitely. You can read more about the incident HERE. A large section of the roof, estimated to measure between 160 and 180 feet in length and up to 30 feet wide, was torn open. No injuries were reported, and there has been no confirmed damage to stored property. Items housed in the affected area were relocated as a precaution.

As assessments continue and the scope of repairs becomes clearer, museum officials have outlined ways for members of the public who have asked to offer support. One option is through the Tillamook Air Museum’s Operations Donations fund, which can be used to address immediate needs and help provide matching funds for future grant applications tied to repair and recovery work. In addition, the friends of the Tillamook Air Museum, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, have launched a GoFundMe campaign dedicated specifically to the preservation and repair of Hangar B.
