The American Airpower Museum, Farmingdale, NY, will host a program of warbird flight demonstrations over Memorial Day weekend, scheduled for May 23 and 24. The event comes as the annual Jones Beach Air Show shifts to the July 4 weekend this year as part of broader celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the United States. While the museum plans to take part in those July events, it will instead focus on flight activity at its Farmingdale location during Memorial Day weekend.

According to the museum, the decision follows strong interest from visitors asking whether aircraft would be flying during the usual holiday period. In response, the museum will operate a series of flight demonstrations featuring aircraft from its collection. Weather permitting, one or more aircraft are expected to fly, including the Douglas C-47 Skytrain, Grumman TBM Avenger, North American P-51 Mustang, Curtiss P-40 Warhawk, North American T-6 Texan, and a WACO UPF-7 biplane. Visitors will be able to watch the aircraft start up, taxi, and depart for a flight over Long Island.

Flight experiences will also be available to the public in selected aircraft, including the C-47, AT-6 Texan, and WACO biplane. The museum will be open during its regular hours over the weekend, though it will be closed on Monday. Flight bookings can be made through the museum’s website or by contacting the museum directly. General admission is priced at $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and veterans, and $12 for children ages 3 to 12. The museum will be open during regular hours over the weekend, with access to exhibits and on-site facilities.
