The National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force focuses on the people who served in the Eighth Air Force and the role they played during World War II. Through exhibits, films, personal artifacts, and archival material, it tells individual stories of those who flew, maintained aircraft, and supported the largest air force assembled during the war. The museum emphasizes what those men and women experienced and the sacrifices that helped bring the conflict to an end. Among the museum’s highlights is a fully restored B-17 Flying Fortress, along with the Mission Experience, a theater-based presentation that recreates a wartime bombing mission using original combat footage.
