Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar has announced that it will soon return to its original trading name, The Spitfire Company (Biggin Hill), marking a rebrand that reflects the organization’s core mission while maintaining the same team, expertise, and operations. Established in 2011 as The Spitfire Company (Biggin Hill) Ltd, the business was originally founded with a single objective: the restoration of Supermarine Spitfire Mk I X4650. Over the past 15 years, it has grown into one of the world’s best-known specialists in the restoration, maintenance, and operation of Spitfires and other historic aircraft, operating publicly under the Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar name.

According to the company, the decision to return to its founding name better represents its specialist focus on the restoration, engineering, maintenance, and continued airworthiness of Spitfires and other warbirds. While the company’s public identity will change, customers can expect business to continue as usual. The organization emphasized that its personnel, facilities, services, and commitment to preserving aviation heritage will remain unchanged throughout the transition.

As part of the rebranding, the company’s operations will be divided under two distinct public identities. The Spitfire Company (Biggin Hill) will represent its restoration, engineering, maintenance, and warbird support services, while FlyaSpitfire.com will continue to operate the company’s Spitfire flight experiences, hangar tours, and visitor activities. The transition will take place over the coming weeks, with the company’s social media channels and public branding gradually adopting the new identity. Existing restoration and maintenance work, along with visitor experiences, will continue without interruption. The company has also encouraged supporters and members of the aviation community to help spread the word about the name change as it returns to the identity under which the business was originally founded.
