The U.S. Air National Guard (ANG) will be the featured military component at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2025, taking place July 21–27 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. “Each year, we honor a branch of the military for its contributions to aviation and national security,” said Rick Larsen, EAA’s vice president of communities and member programs, who oversees AirVenture programming. “The Air National Guard plays a critical role in our nation’s defense, with a presence in every state and unmatched expertise across a broad range of aircraft and missions.”
With more than 108,000 Airmen and 1,000 aircraft, the Air National Guard serves as the Air Force’s primary combat-ready reserve force. Its mission includes homeland defense, disaster response, and projecting air power globally — all while maintaining strong ties to the communities its members serve.
“AirVenture is an incredible platform to showcase the skill, dedication, and versatility of our Guard Airmen,” said Maj. Gen. Duke Pirak, acting director of the Air National Guard. “Our members blend military precision with civilian experience, creating a uniquely innovative and resilient force. It’s a privilege to represent the U.S. Air Force and share the vital work we do both at home and abroad.”
Today, the ANG is responsible for more than 30% of the U.S. Air Force’s global operational missions and over 94% of its homeland defense tasks. “Participating in a high-profile event like Oshkosh sharpens our operational readiness,” added Pirak. “It’s a chance to refine our skills, enhance inter-unit coordination, and train in dynamic environments — all of which directly support our ability to respond when the nation calls.”
Air National Guard units from at least seven states are expected to take part, bringing aircraft for static display and flight demonstrations. Additional details on participating aircraft, personnel, and presentations will be released as plans are finalized. “This event goes beyond outreach — it’s a powerful display of the Air National Guard’s capabilities and the professionalism of our Airmen,” said Pirak. “Our presence at Oshkosh highlights our combat readiness, reinforces alliances, and sends a clear message to potential adversaries: the Air National Guard stands ready to defend our nation’s interests anytime, anywhere.”
