The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) has announced a new multi-year partnership with CORGI®, one of the world’s most respected manufacturers of die-cast models, to produce a series of highly detailed scale replicas inspired by iconic aircraft from the CAF fleet. The collaboration coincides with a milestone year for CORGI, as 2026 marks the 70th anniversary of the company’s first die-cast model release. To commemorate the occasion, CORGI is introducing new tooling, programming, and strategic partnerships across its Aviation Archive and Vanguards ranges, further underscoring its long-standing commitment to aviation heritage and craftsmanship.

“This project has been in development for some time, and we’re excited to finally share it,” said Leah Block, Vice President of Marketing for the Commemorative Air Force. “CORGI’s reputation for accuracy and quality makes them a natural partner for the CAF. These models allow us to extend our mission beyond the flightline and into the hands of collectors, educators, and aviation enthusiasts worldwide.”

The partnership began with an unexpected connection overseas. In 2025, while participating in the Navy to Victory tour in Europe with the CAF’s Douglas R4D Ready 4 Duty, longtime CAF member David Barrera was approached by CORGI representatives who expressed interest in both the aircraft and the organization that preserves it. A member of several CAF units, Barrera became a key advocate for the CAF, helping facilitate introductions between CORGI and CAF leadership that ultimately led to the partnership.

Under the licensing agreement, CORGI, headquartered in the United Kingdom, is working closely with the Commemorative Air Force to develop authentic, museum-quality die-cast replicas of select CAF aircraft. Each model is being meticulously researched to ensure historical accuracy, honoring the aircraft, the aircrews who flew them, and the legacy they represent. Founded in 1957 with the purchase of a single aircraft, the Commemorative Air Force has grown into the world’s largest flying museum, maintaining a fleet of more than 180 historic military aircraft representing over 60 different types. CAF aircraft regularly appear at airshows and educational events throughout the United States and abroad, preserving aviation history by keeping it alive in the air.

CORGI, widely regarded as a leader in scale aviation modeling, has spent months collaborating with CAF historians and subject-matter experts to ensure precision in every detail. From markings and finishes to configuration and period-correct features, each model is crafted to faithfully represent its real-world counterpart. Details regarding specific aircraft selections, scales, and release dates will be announced later this year. For more information about CORGI, visit www.uk.corgi.co.uk.
