National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force To Host Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day on December 7th

The National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force will observe Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day on December 7 with a public ceremony honoring those who served during the 1941 attack and the war that followed. Sponsored by the Navy League of Savannah, the program will include remarks from Captain Leonard Jones, musical performances, selected readings, the Two-Bell Ceremony, and a flower-wreath tribute. Admission is free, and visitors of all ages are invited to join in reflecting on the courage and sacrifice of America’s World War II veterans.

The National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force, in Pooler, GA, will host Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day with a public program on December 7 at 2 p.m. The Navy League of Savannah is sponsoring the event, which will include keynote remarks from Captain Leonard Jones, along with selected readings, musical performances, and a tribute recognizing Pearl Harbor survivors and veterans of the Second World War.

The event will include the Two-Bell Ceremony and a flower-wreath tribute, paying respect to those who fought valiantly in the attack. Admission is free, and the museum encourages visitors of all ages to join in reflecting on the service and sacrifice of America’s World War II veterans.

If you wanted a brief intro about the speaker, Captain Leonard Jones, he’s a Georgia native and has earned a Navy scholarship after graduating from Wrens High School. He was commissioned through Savannah State College’s NROTC program in 1978. Over his 30-year Navy career, he served on surface ships, including USS Higbee, USS Dahlgren, and USS Charles F. Adams, and held overseas posts in Japan and at the U.S. Embassy in Nassau as a Naval Attaché.
