The DC-3 Society has officially announced plans for a major commemoration of the Douglas DC-3’s 90th anniversary during EAA AirVenture 2025 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The organization is inviting all DC-3 and C-47 operators to participate in what promises to be a historic tribute to the enduring legacy of the “Grand Dame of Aviation.” Among the aircraft already confirmed to attend are C-47 Placid Lassie and a C-47 operated by Vaerus Jet Sales. Organizers anticipate a growing roster of participants as the aviation community rallies to celebrate 90 years of DC-3 excellence in both civilian and military service.

Adding to the vintage aviation lineup, the A-26 Million Airess will also be in attendance. Fresh from its participation in the D-Day Squadron’s 2024 Legacy Tour—which honored the 80th anniversary of D-Day and the 75th anniversary of the Berlin Airlift—the A-26 will support the commemorative atmosphere and highlight the diversity of wartime aircraft represented at the show.

The event is being presented in partnership with EAA, Vintage Aviation News, and GlobalAir.com. Coordinated coverage will include editorial features, social media storytelling, and on-site reporting to spotlight participating aircraft and their crews throughout the duration of AirVenture. Flying activities are being organized in close coordination with EAA Warbirds of America. Eric Zipkin will lead the flight portion of the commemoration, which includes special DC-3 formation flights, D-Day-related narration segments on Friday and Saturday, and several flyovers planned during the week.
