The Commemorative Air Force Airbase Georgia, Peachtree City, GA, will take part in Georgia’s Super Museum Sunday on February 8, opening to the public from noon to 4 p.m. Admission will be free, and visitors will be able to spend the afternoon exploring aviation history, viewing restored World War II aircraft, and learning how the museum operates. The event will be Airbase Georgia’s first public program of 2026. It also coincides with the lead-up to America 250, the national effort marking the 250th anniversary of the United States. Museum officials say the day is meant to give the community a chance to better understand the people and events connected to the aircraft preserved at the site.

During the event, visitors can walk through the hangar, speak with volunteer members, and learn about the restoration work carried out on the museum’s historic aircraft. Staff and volunteers will also explain how the museum is used as an educational space for visitors of different ages. Super Museum Sunday is held statewide each year and is organized by the Georgia Historical Society along with the Georgia Department of Economic Development through its Explore Georgia program. Museums, historic sites, and cultural organizations across Georgia participate by offering free admission and inviting the public to explore local history and heritage.

According to the Airbase Leader, Mark Richards, “Education is at the heart of everything we do.” He further added, “When we say our mission is to educate, inspire, and honor, that includes educating the general public just as much as our K–12 students. Super Museum Sunday allows us to open our doors and invite the community to engage directly with the stories, skills, and values that define this generation of American history.” Airbase Georgia plans to continue expanding public access and educational programs throughout 2026, and the Super Museum Sunday event serves as an early opportunity for families, students and enthusiasts to engage with those efforts. The event is open to the public for free. For more information and to support the Commemorative Air Force Airbase Georgia, visit this link: airbasegeorgia.org.
